Discover the benefits of training

We teach many different types of Martial Arts at the Association, including;
Shotokan Karate (way of the empty hand), Kobujutsu (Okinawan weapons) and Tai Chi Chuan (supreme, ultimate).

Sensei Jonathan offers training to students aged 4 years upwards at his dojo.
Some of the benefits of the Dojo include:

  • Excellent Training Facilities.
  • Fully equiped Dojo with matted Training Area.
  • Only 10 students to each class to ensure individual attention.
  • Classes specifically for the over forty age-range.
  • Training in a relaxed, friendly enviroment.

Please note each session is of one hour duration and can be arranged anytime outside of lessons.

Common questions about lessons

Q. What age do you have to be to start?
A. You can start training at our Association at the age 4 years +.

Q. Am I too old to start?
A. You are never to old to start training, although there may be limitations. No matter what age you can benefit.

Q. Do you have to be fit to train?
A. There is a saying, “you train to get fit.”

Q. Will I be able to defend myself after one lesson?
A. After one lesson, you will be in a much better position to protect yourself. With each lesson you attend, you will become more and more equiped to deal with a situation.

Q. Is there any risk of injury during training?
A. You would be more likely to get injured when playing football or other sporting activities, unlike Martial Arts where the lessons are controlled.

Q. I have an old injury; could training make it worse?
A. If anything, training will improve the situation. By exercising, you are pumping the blood around the body, aiding the healing process.

Q. Can you train with learning difficulties ie dyslexia, ADHD etc?
A. Most people can study Martial Artsincluding those with learning difficulties. Learning a Martial Art will improve co-ordination and also promote discipline.
