Ready and Finish Positions

Yoi (ready position) and Yame (finish position) play an important role in good etiquette in Karate Do. Yoi is performed to demonstrate you are ready for the lesson or you are ready to start the exercise with good intent. Yame is performed to demonstrate you have finished the exercise or the lesson.

Notes

• Bring your arms outwards

• Cross your hands above your head

• left hand in front of right

• As you bring your hands down make a fist

• Finish with your elbows slightly bent by your hips

• Finish with both feet apart and facing forwards

• Keep your back streight

• Keep your shoulders relaxed
