Lesson One

In lesson one, Sensei Jon demonstrates how to bow correctly. Bowing plays a huge roll in Karate Do. Gichen Funakoshi one of the known founders of Shotokan Karate said “Karate must always begin and end with a bow”. A Karate Ka (someone who practices the art of Karate) should always maintain good etiquette at all times. Students should always bow as they enter and leave the Dojo (place of training.) You should also always bow to your partner before and after practice which demonstrates a deep respect between each other.
